Reasons to Learn ASL: Count (on one hand!)

American Sign Language has an amazing thing that the hearing world really ought to start understanding: counting on one hand. Using your hands to count is a great idea until you make it to ten and run out of fingers. With ASL you could learn to count to nine hundred ninety nine with the use of only one hand! If that seems too daunting a task, how about learning how to count to ten on one hand? This can be beneficial if you have kids, or have to keep track of how much of anything you have. It’s also pretty cool to be able to count to ten with one hand while holding something with the other.
