If you’re a signer and you’ve met a Deaf person, chances are they’ve asked many questions about where you’re from, what you do, and who you may know. Don’t be freaked out by this, it’s perfectly normal! The Deaf community is a very tight-knit group across the nation, and you’d be surprised how many connections you have to someone you’ve never met. Being Deaf is something that can really unite two people: it’s a fast common ground topic. Because of this, Deaf people tend to make immediate friendships, meeting someone once or twice and knowing everything about them! It’s really amazing to see the connection that is made so instantly that can last a lifetime, which is something that members of the hearing world don’t get to experience as often.
