Visually Speaking believes certified ASL interpreters should be compensated for their expertise in the field of activism. We all need to do the work to support and encourage those who provide access to the ASL community.
If you are hosting a protest event in Seattle–
Please provide the event description, location address, days and times, and the contact person for that event. We’ll do our best to connect you with coordinators in your area.
A Call for donations –
Donations will be distributed to ASL interpreters from marginalized communities, DeafBlind interpreters, Certified Deaf Interpreters and coordinators for various BLM events.
Any funds in excess, will be used for tokens of appreciation for assistance, scholarship fund for DeafQueer BIPOC talent and future ASL Lounge/Events for the Deaf. You can read more about the allocations here.
